The smallest island with country status is Pitcairn in Polynesia, at just 1.75 square miles (4.53 sq km) (1,120 acres). It is administered by New Zealand. It's capital is Adamtown.
The largest island with independent status is Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat), which is also the largest island at 840,000 square miles ( 2.17m sq km) ( 537,599,170 acres). It's capital is Nuuk (Godthab). In comparative size, Greenland is three times the size of Texas.
