Capital of Burma
The capital city of Burma, (Myanmar) is no longer Rangoon (Yangon).
In 2005, the Burmese government announced it was moving the capital north to a location near the rural city of Pyinmana, which has been named Naypyidaw, or Abode of Kings. The location is 460km (300 miles) north of the old capital, Rangoon, about midway between Mandalay and Rangoon.
Nobody knows why the government moved the capital. The best guess is that General Than Shwe, the leaser f Burma was told by a fortune teller to move the capital.
